This is an engineering/support role that will support the production, engineering, integration and implementation of new application infrastructure capabilities specifically related to WebLogic (WLS) and Portal technologies. This position will be called upon to assess new technologies, provide engineering guidance, perform engineering tasks in development, QA and production environments to insure that a production ready application infrastructure is available, support the rollout of new applications into the target environment and act as SME support in troubleshooting situations. This engineering role will work in and small development and/or operational teams as needed. The engineer is expected to have a solid working understanding of the WLS and Portal architecture as well as it's operational and management features.

The engineer is also expected to have a thorough understanding of the Unix operating system thus allowing the role to perform design, engineering and troubleshooting tasks. Due to the nature of this application infrastructure environment the engineer will also understand such cross-functional topics as application development, networking, and database servers. The engineer is required to carry a pager and perform production support duties.

 Qualifications

• B.S.C.S. or equivalent work experience required


• Four to six years of progressive experience in computing, development, client/server application integration and implementation


• Four to six years of knowledge and experience working with and integrating the WebLogic and Portal environments (Weblogic certification a plus)


• Proven experience deploying WebLogic and Portal architectures


• Experience with deploying and administering WebLogic and other application server technologies desired


• Excellent knowledge of UNIX operating systems (administration, performance tuning, troubleshooting)


• Working knowledge of HTML, XML and scripting tools


• Experience with successful implementations of highly scalable and highly available systems in a multi-tier environment


• Strong research, investigation and evaluation skills


• Strong system analytic ability and practice


• Ability to multi-task and effectively prioritize in a highly dynamic work environment


• Experience with infrastructure technologies such as TCP/IP, firewalls, packet routing/switching and load balancing
